El Gouna Film Festival - October 13-18, 2022
El Gouna Film Festival: October 13-18, 2022
El Gouna film fest, now in its 6th year, has emerged as a pillar in the region’s cultural and entertainment scene. Showcasing more than 100 narrative, documentary and short films from Europe and the Middle East in a juried competition, the fest’s over-arching mission is to promote the discovery of new talent and emerging voices in world cinema.
Campus El Gouna was established to act as a scientific and academic field office of Technische Universität Berlin (hence it is called The TUB). This satellite campus on the Red Sea was financed by alumnus Samih Sawiris and serves as the fest headquarters. Screenings take place here and in a grand outdoor theatre.
When not at the movies, El Gouna’s pristine beaches, diving, snorkeling, golf courses and an array of fine restaurants beckon.
Getting to El Gouna …Based in a new, luxury resort development on the Red Sea, El Gouna is a one hour flight from Cairo or Luxor to Hurghada Airport.
Getting Around El Gouna … Free shuttle buses make a loop from all hotels to the festival headquarters throughout the day and evening, and taxis are free for all fest accredited guests. Tuk tuks are readily available for approx 20 Egyptian pounds = approx. $1.25 US.
